HOW MUCH WILL THIS COST?

Every case, and every client, are different. It is impossible to accurately estimate cost of representation without a First Meeting. However, Power Law is committed to cost transparency. These are the ways we calculate cost and to make representation affordable, while also ensuring your a meaningful defense.

Power Pay

Power Pay is our program to provide legal representation to as many people as possible. If you qualify for Power Pay, the rates we charge will be reduced and you may be able to pay a retainer over time. Be sure to discuss if you qualify for Power Pay at your First Meeting.

Hourly and Flat Fee

The traditional way lawyers charge their time is by the hour. More recently, lawyers have begun to use flat fees in some cases. Flat fees are kind of like getting your car repaired - you know that replacing the timing belt will cost $1,000, no matter how much time the mechanic spends on the repair. At Power Law, we evaluate each case individually to see if an hourly or a flat fee arrangement makes sense.

WHY DO YOU CHARGE FOR THE FIRST MEETING?

Your first meeting (or consultation) with an attorney is the beginning of an important working relationship. At Power Law, we charge for the first meeting because it is a working hour meant to give you real insight about your specific case, even if you decide to hire a different attorney. If you do decide to hire our firm, a significant amount of work will have already been completed, keeping your total bill lower.

First Meeting Fee: $150
